Your Guide to Preparing for
Your Business Headshot
A professional business headshot is a powerful tool. It's often the first impression a potential client, employer or partner has of you. To ensure you get the best possible result, preparation is the key. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know, from wardrobe to style.

Your New Headshot
Understanding Your Vision : We'll start with a relaxed discussion about why you're seeking a new headshot. This helps us understand your goals, whether it's for personal branding or company-wide update.

Let's Talk About Your Style : We'll explore the ideal look and feel for your photo - from formal and professional to casual and approachable, or even someting more creative and unique.

Practice Your Expression : Stand in front of the mirror & practice smiles & expressions. Notice what looks most natural and expresses your look.

Sleep & Water : Seriously, a good nights sleep will reduce puffiness & dark circles. And lots of water will help your skin look fresh & natural.

Makeup : Go for a natural look. The goal is to enhance your features. Use a matte foundation that matches your skin tone. Bring lipstick & makeup for a few touchups if necessary.

Hair & Grooming :
-
Women - keep it simple, style your hair as you normally would, this is not the time to try a new look.
-
Men - a close shave or a beard trim will look neat & well groomed. Try to get a haircut 3 or 4 days before your session.

Wardrobe & More :
-
Colours - Solid colours are always a safe bet. They don't distract from your face & are timeless. Jewel tones like deep blue, green & purples are universally flattering.

-
Patterns - Avoid busy patterns. Stripes, polka dots and other busy patterns can distract from your face.

-
Layering is your friend - A blazer, cardigan or a nice jacket will be flattering & allows for quick outfit changes. Bring 2 or 3 outfits and we'll choose together.

-
Fit is Key - Make sure your clothes fit you well. Anything too baggey or too tight will be noticable in the photos.
-
Necklines Matter - V-necks and scoop necks are more flattering than high necks, since they elongate your neck & slim your face.

A Word About Retouching - This is your professional look, that will give you a competitive edge. So let's talk about maybe slimming your face, eliminating neck lines, reducing eye bags, whiten teeth. We do this everyday, it's very subtle, so you will still look like you.
If it's important to you, then it's important to me , Tell me what you would like.

Arrive on time - This give you time to relax, change and get comfortable before the camera comes out.

We're here to guide you through every step, ensuring your headshot session is not only productive but also enjoyable, resulting in images that make a powerful impression. Relax, we are here to help.
