ACTORS TIPS & ADVICE
In My Opinion
be true to your own style
I often hear other photographers telling people to avoid neutral tones like white or grey . Or not to wear bold tones like black or red.
Well, I disagree ... I think you should be true to your personal style whether it's cool & subtle or big & bold or casual versus formal.
White - grey - beige - mid blue are cool colours that blend and allow the emphasis to be on you and your personality, and not your clothes
If you want your headshot to be big and bold try black - red - purple - blue - green - burgundy
If you have a warm and welcoming personality you probably already have green - teal - orange and yellow.
BRING A VARIETY OF CLOTHES AND WE'LL LOOK AT WHAT WORKS TOGETHER
we need to talk !
Wear more makeup than normal ... because the camera is going to take off 50% of your makeup.
Put your makeup on at home - you won't have time when you get to the studio
More matte foundation is an absolute must to prevent a "shiny face"
Not sure about makeup ? Go to Merle Norman, Sephora or the Mac counter in the Bay.
Purchase something or for a small fee they will be happy to do your makeup.
Iron your clothes - nothing will ruin your headshot faster than a wrinkled shirt !
Tee shirts are great for men & women. Round neck or vee neck , either looks good. But try to bring a new tee shirt for your session. Even after one or two washes the neck looks loose and baggy .
PANTS & BOTTOMS
Yes, we call it a "headshot" but it's usually waist up and sometimes mid thigh and up. So wear something on your bottom that goes with your top.
